Smart Bylaws Guide – Stormwater Planning Guidebook

The provincial government sponsored Stormwater Planning: A Guidebook for British Columbia to provide a framework for effective stormwater management planning that is usable in all areas of the province.  The Guidebook presents a methodology for planning and implementing integrated stormwater management (ISM) approaches.

The Guidebook is organized in three parts: Part A defines the problem, Part B provides solutions and Part C defines the process.  Case studies  (particularly of the City of Chilliwack and Regional District of Nanaimo) are used throughout to demonstrate the approaches and strategies that are presented in the Guidebook.

Of particular note for this Smart Bylaws Guide, Chapter 4 details policy tools, for OCPs and Liquid Waste Management Plans, for integrating ISM solutions.  Chapter 6 deals with setting performance targets and design guidelines, and chapter seven addresses site design solutions for achieving performance targets.
