Smart Bylaws Guide – Support Rental Housing – Tax Incentives for the Provision of Rental Accommodation

The City of Victoria offers a property tax incentive program to stimulate the upgrading of heritage buildings in which rental accommodation is created.  Landowners may be eligible for a ten-year tax abatement on the improvements to the building.  The program is part of the City’s strong heritage preservation initiatives.

To date, the program has secured 168 rental units in 10 properties in the downtown area, creating high quality rental housing and diversifying downtown accommodation.
