Smart Bylaws Guide – Use Site Resources Wisely – Development Permit Areas – Saltspring Island

The Saltspring Island OCP contains detailed DP guidelines for the following land uses:

• Island villages;
• Non-village commercial and industrial;
• Shoreline;
• Lakes, streams and wetlands;
• Community well capture zone; and
• Unstable slopes and soil erosion hazards.

The DP for the community well capture zone is designed to protect the land that supplies water to community wells to maintain water quality.

These guidelines are among the most detailed and descriptive DP guidelines in the province.
