Smart Bylaws Guide – Vermont Smart Growth Scorecard
Vermont Forum on Sprawl
www.vtsprawl.org/Pdfs/SPRAWLscorecard.pdf
The purpose of the Vermont Smart Growth Scorecard is to provide
citizens and local governments a simple and clear means of assessing
how well a municipality is prepared for growth. Under eight topics,
questions and answers help to rank municipal commitment to smart
growth. The topics are:
- Compact Centres
- Transportation
- Natural and Historic
Resources
- Open Spaces
- Farms & Forests
- Housing
- Business Diversity
- Public Involvement
The Vermont Smart Growth Scorecard provides clear explanations of
each measurement under the criteria and enables an assessment of
whether a town's planning and development enables a smart growth
approach or needs significant attention.
