Global Warming Solutions

treetall.jpgAddressing the impacts of climate change is the environmental, social and economic imperative of our time. Scientists tell us that major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are required to halt rising global temperatures and to adapt to changes in climate that are already occurring. If Canada is to be successful, there needs to be a major shift in how decisions are made at the individual, corporate and governmental levels.

Canadian governments at all levels have proposed laws and policies that address climate change in a more or less ad hoc way. In order for the law to address climate change meaningfully and systemically, climate change needs to be integrated into every environmental decision.

West Coast’s Global Warming Solutions examines the laws being proposed to address climate change, revealing their strengths and weaknesses. We are also proposing new laws and legal strategies to deal with climate change more comprehensively.
