Lucy was thrilled to join the team at West Coast in 2008 as Director of Development as she aligns closely with West Coast’s vision for a just and sustainable society where people are empowered to protect the environment and the environment is protected by law. Lucy is a professionally accredited fundraiser (CFRE), with two decades in resource development for non-profit environmental and community organizations. She is inspired by the supporters of West Coast and honoured to help them take action on their own passion for the environment and to make the world a better place through philanthropy.
Lucy’s own passion for environmental conservation and healthy communities developed through her personal travel experiences to a few corners of BC - from Pacific Rim to Glacier to Atlin National Parks - and many beautiful places in between. Her love of “natural BC” compelled her to complete a BSc degree in biology and geography from SFU, furthering her understanding of science as a sound and persuasive element in making the case to protect the ecological and cultural diversity of BC that she cherishes.
Lucy was born and raised in the lower mainland and lives in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, where she can often be found with her hands in the dirt in her community garden plot or in her two Vancouver Green Streets volunteer gardens. Lucy is active in her community and has previously volunteered on the Board of Directors of RainCity Housing and Support Society, the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation, and Theatre Terrific Society. Her love of kitties led her to volunteer with VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association) in 2012 where she is currently the President of the Board.
