Canada is at a crossroads. Over the last decade, we’ve made great strides towards strengthening our environmental safety net to promote a healthy and sustainable Canada. Our emissions are going down, we are playing a leadership role in nature protection on the global stage, and support for Indigenous rights and Indigenous-led conservation is on the rise.
But unfortunately, current tariff threats are being used as convenient cover by corporations to advocate for fast-tracking risky resource projects in Canada. As the United States walks back climate and environmental protections to further Big Oil’s agenda, some politicians in Canada are looking to do the same.
Don’t be fooled by false claims that Canada’s environmental protections are getting in the way of economic prosperity: a strong and resilient economy is one that is based on a stable climate, a healthy environment and thriving communities.
This election, we need leaders who recognize that building a resilient economy and defending our sovereignty must go hand-in-hand with strong laws to safeguard our climate, protect nature and ensure the health and wellbeing of Canadians.
Take our pledge today and tell parties that this federal election, you are voting for a resilient, sustainable and fair Canada.
This election, I am voting for a resilient, sustainable and fair Canada. That means:
- Continuing to make strong progress on climate change so we can live in a climate-safe world.
- Halting and reversing nature loss by protecting species and the ecosystems they need to thrive.
- Looking before we leap into decisions about projects through rigorous and credible environmental impact assessments.
- Safeguarding our ocean and the sea life within it.
- Upholding Indigenous human rights and advancing environmental justice.
Take the pledge today and send a message to federal parties that a sovereign Canada is a sustainable Canada.
