West Coast Environmental Law Association Submission to Transport Canada Regarding Formalization of the Pacific North Coast Oil Tanker Moratorium

Subject
Oil tankers, Pacific coast
Author
Gavin Smith
Summary

Following commitments by Canada's federal government to formalize a moratorium on oil tankers along the Pacific north coast, Transport Canada initiated a public engagement process to invite Canadians to share their views about how best to protect the coastline and marine environment.

This submission from West Coast Environmental Law Association responds to questions posed by Transport Canada in its public engagement for the formalization of the oil tanker ban. The submission also refers to the recommendations included in an earlier West Coast publication entitled Keeping our Coast Clean: Frequently asked questions about an oil tanker ban on BC's Pacific North Coast.
